Walking is one of the best ways to explore the Mother City and it would almost be sinful not to create a list of coastal and beach walks in Cape Town. The mere thought of strolling leisurely along the beach has already calmed my soul.

Cape Town has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and to not visit those beaches as much as we possibly can would be a sacrilege. The best part is that it’s free and guarantees a dose of happy endorphins.

Here is a list of coastal and beach trails in Cape Town for you to walk:

1. Sea Point Promenade walk:

The paved promenade is an easy 5.9 kilometres and takes about an hour and 15 minutes to complete from Sea Point to the Green Point lighthouse in Mouille Point and back to Sea Point.

2. Muizenburg to St James walkway:

The St James coastal walk is a short but moderately challenging walk from Muizenburg to St James covering 3.3 kilometres there and back.

3. Blouberg Beach walk:

Blouberg Beach walk is a longer 12.7 kilometre walk that takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes out and back, but we’re not complaining as this is a walk along a white stretch of beach.

4. Camps Bay Beach walk:

The Camps Bay Beach walk is a very short and easy 1.8 kilometres of loop trail, which offers the most breathtaking views of the Mother City. One of the best walks to catch a Cape Town sunset.

5. Kommetjie to Noordhoek Beach walk:

The scenic walk from Kommetjie to Noordhoek is one not to be missed. This 5.5 kilometre walk starts at the Kommetjie Beach parking area and ends at the foot of Chapman’s Peak.

It’s always safer to walk in groups, so invite a buddy or two along to explore the beach trails with you.
