A look at the i30 sibling that we won’t get: 2024 Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai recently released images of the eighth generation of its four-door i30 counterpart; the 2024 Hyundai Elantra. The sleek and stunning sedan is unlikely to make its way to South African shores. Would it have done well in our market? The post A look at the i30 sibling that we won’t get: 2024 Hyundai Elantra appeared first on CAR Magazine.
Hyundai’s peppy hatchback, the i30N, managed to steal the spotlight at our last Performance Shootout serving as a testament to its abilities, but its four-door counterpart recently received a slew of changes. Here’s all you need to know about the 2023 Hyundai Elantra.
Hyundai published images of the latest generational iteration of the Elantra, also known as the Avante in the Korean market. The eighth generation of the Elantra/Avante receives mostly aesthetic changes such as a redesigned front end complimented by a new rear design. As is the case for many of Hyundai’s standard passenger carriers, the 2024 Hyundai Elantra/Avante offers a more regal platform compared to the N-badged variant.

The seventh generation of the Elantra wore a set of winged headlamps that swept dramatically from one side to the other, but the new model features a toned-down headlamp display. Additionally, the grille is now segmented in two and curtailed by faux air intakes which are not a far cry from the last side air intake design. The contoured flank of the seventh-generation Elantra has been unchanged and brought into the fold for the latest model rendition. The rear features a wraparound tail-light array. Punctuating the rear are the rear differ and rear bumper design which is dominated by an aggressive silver element stretching from either side of the car’s rear.
A photo showcasing the interior allows us to glimpse into what may be the interior of the eighth-generation Elantra. The cockpit is accentuated by the presence of a fairly sizable curved digital dash and infotainment display seemingly utilizing the firm latest infotainment software. Ventilated seats and hard-plastic elements seem omnipresent in Elantra’s interior design.
Aside from the three aforementioned changes, the regal sedan counterpart to the i30 will likely not be available in South Africa. These images serve as a design preview and unfortunately are not accompanied by any information regarding its powertrain or possible trim levels.
