If you like to think that you and your fur baby are on top of social media's latest trends, you're not alone. There are always new TikTok dances and selfie filters to try, but one trend is actually a lot older than you may think. As it turns out, people have been dressing up their cats for generations, now!
In case you need any adorable proof, TikTok user @princesshoneybellex showed her viewers the sweetest antique picture of a tiny kitten dressed up to do some baking. As precious as it is, it's hard not to wonder just how they posed the adorable feline.

Isn't that the cutest? We genuinely had zero idea that people dressed up their cats so long ago (even if it was just for photo shoot). If only that cat could see what their descendants are up to now.
"The cat is alive in this photo!" explained @mx.saft. "The photographer, Harry Whittier Frees, only used live animals in his photos!" That's so interesting! We're glad we saw that comment, though, because it was hard to tell whether that was the case by one vintage photograph. Taxidermy can be great, but this is even more impressive.
"It makes me happy knowing for hundreds of years cats have been there doing silly little things for us," @kavehsjew wrote. Aww, that's such a sweet thought! Cats and dogs really have been our companions for hundreds, if not thousands of years--and photographs like this totally prove it. Now we're wondering what other kinds of old pet photos we could find!
