Cape Town – Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for four men who robbed a clinic in Moletlane on Saturday.

Police said four armed men allegedly stormed the clinic near Zebediela shortly after midnight on Saturday and fled with items including medicines and medical equipment.

The suspects accosted a security officer, tied him up and robbed him of two cellphones, said police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

“They then broke into the clinic and stole medicines, medical equipment, two tablets and one laptop,” Ledwaba said.

Police request anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to contact Warrant Officer Motsobane Maleka on 082 759 5017.

This incident comes following the assault of a pregnant nurse at Relela Clinic in Bolobedu, outside Tzaneen last week.

It is believed that a 30-year-old suspect entered the clinic and demanded medical attention from the nurse who was attending to other patients before physically assaulting the nurse.

Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba has since on the community of Bolobedu to stand up and protect healthcare workers, warning that one day there will be no one to take care of the sick because no one wants to work in an unsafe environment.
