Next week, school is out, and the matric exams will be over. It is soon time for the celebrations to begin with a right of passage for all matriculants: the Matric Rage. And, as is customary in the Cape, all roads lead to Plettenberg Bay.
Matric Rage is soon to be underway, and SAPS has issued a warning, “Be Cautious at the Matric Rage”, as part of the December Arrive Alive campaign.
“Police are urging #MatricRage festivalgoers to practice safety and celebrate responsibly.”

Make sure to read up on safety at the festival, where to stay, how Rage Rides operate and everything else you need to know to plan your Rage Festival experience.
Safety tips:
- Plan ahead and be prepared. Keep emergency contact information on your phone and somewhere else safe (in case you lose your phone). Don’t put yourself into dangerous or solitary situations and make sure you know how you are getting home each night.
- Be crime conscious – be aware of crime opportunities at all times!
- Never walk around alone and don’t talk to strangers. Be on the lookout for strange cars or people.
- Make sure you have the number of shuttle services or designated Rage Ride vehicles at hand in case you get stranded.
- Know all emergency numbers.
- Never hitch-hike.
- Be firm and clear and say NO! You have the right to do so.
- Do not leave a party or social event with someone you do not know or have just met.
- At social events, do not leave your cold drinks or drinks unattended.
