Cape Town pride events to attend this February

Cape Town is full of queer people, and in a celebration of identity and community, there are an endless number of Pride events that run throughout each year. So, what are the Pride events you can go to for the rest of February?

1. Pride Month Light Up!

In an event to kick off the Pride calendar, the Western Cape Legislature building in Wale Street will be lit up in rainbow colours. The colours, representative of the LGBTQ+ flag, show support of the City’s queer community.

2. Pride Village Drinks

Pride Village Drinks happens monthly, giving a chance for people to network and meet new friends in the City. This is a popular event which is always well attended, as it is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people in the community.

3. The Pride Party

The Pride Party will be hosted at Zer021 and is a perfect way to celebrate loudly. Who doesn’t love to dance? Tickets will be sold at the door. Keep an eye out for more information.

4. Ekasi Pride

Ekasi Pride is an annual pre-Pride event held in Khayalitsha that includes a march and a picnic. The details are yet to be confirmed but you can expect a day of celebration and fun.

5. Mr & Miss Cape Town Pride Pageant

The Mr & Miss Cape Town Pride Pageant is one of the most anticipated Pride events of the year. The evening showcases finalists as they model in swim wear and evening wear, competing for a spot in the top 5.

6. Pride Drag Brunch

7. Pride Workshop

8. Sanlam Pride Hero Awards

The Sanlam Pride Hero Awards are a platform used to honour people in the community who have gone the extra mile in a number of different fields, from entertainment to social work. The Embassy of the United States is hosting this year’s event.

9. Pride Talent Show

The Pride Talent Show is a night of showcasing entertainment with new talent in the community. The winner of the talent show will be invited to appear on the main Pride stage at Cape Town Pride 2023.

10. Pride Movie Night 1

The Pride Movie Night on 16 February will show a screening of the HBO series “EQUAL”, a production chronicling the landmark events and forgotten heroes of the LGBTQ+ civil rights movement.

11. Pride Book Night 1

12. Pride Cruise

This is the first Pride Cruise on the Cape Town Pride calendar, and it entails boarding the luxurious Sinfonia for a 4-day cruise to Mossel Bay and back.

13. Pride Roller Disco

The popular roller disco is back due to high demand, and will take place at the V&A Waterfront roller rink at the Battery Park.

14. Timeless Festival @ Cape Town Pride

Timeless Festival and Cape Town Pride in association with The Death Of Glitter are presenting a club night at Club Paradise. A number of South Africa’s most prominent underground DJs and drag artists appear on the lineup, showcasing cutting-edge club sounds and queer performance.

15. Pride Hike 1

The first out of two hikes organised by Cape Town Pride, this trail is for beginners or those new to hiking.

16. Cape Town Lesbians Sundowners

Using the umbrella term “lesbians”, this event invites all sapphics, queer women, and trans and non-binary people to go for a drink or dinner at Kapstadt Brauhaus V&A Waterfront.

This is a great way to meet people and make new friends. Each person will be responsible for settling their own bill.

17. Pride Comedy Night

The Pride Comedy Night is an annual night of great entertainment and laughter. This year’s theme for the event is “Breaking the Closet.”

18. Pride Gat Party

Gat Parties are unique to Cape Town and have been an iconic part of the city’s LGBTQ+ landscape for years.

19. LGBTQIA+ Dance Party

The LGBTQIA+ Dance Party is pretty much exactly what the title suggests: dancing, partying and doing it all with other queer people.

20. Pride Walk & Pride Pets

The Pride Walk with pets is a fun morning for pet-lovers. Cape Town Pride invites you and your pet to go for a 5km walk along the Sea Point Promenade. The walk begins at the Mouille Point Light House and prizes will be awarded throughout the event, so make sure your companion is dressed for the occasion!
