While a recent press release detailing the impressive 10 000 unit sales milestone within their first year back in Mzansi, Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa went on to mention that the Chinese brand has grand aspirations of expanding into neighbouring African countries.

“We will continue to add dealers in South Africa where we see an opportunity to better support our Chery family. At the same time, we will look at possible expansion in neighbouring countries,” says Liu.
For the time being, the freshly revived automaker has grown its dealer footprint significantly and boasts 74 fully operational dealers across South Africa, offering sales, service and after-sales support to buyers and providing peace of mind with impressive warranties.
Originally entering the South African market in 2021 with a compact crossover SUV, the Chinese automaker-giant has impressed with perceived quality and impressive value for money while constantly adding to its lineup with new models and small updates. As with many Chinese vehicles entering our market, their Achilles heel is inferior fuel economy in comparison to other rivals.

Following their impressive sales year, Liu added: “We would not have been able to achieve this massive milestone without the support and hard work of our dealer network. Some of these dealers also celebrate their first year in November, while other dealers have only joined more recently.” Chery now has 74 fully operational dealers across South Africa, offering sales, service and after-sales support.
With a growing network and an increase in local market share, Chery may have what it takes to successfully expand into the rest of Africa.
