‘I told him I didn’t have the time’ – Khaya Dlanga says AKA wanted him to write his biography

Cape Town – South African bestselling author Khaya Dlanga took to social media to share that slain rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes had asked him to write his biography that would have been titled In (famous).

Taking to Twitter, Dlanga said that he had been debating with himself about whether or not to share that AKA had approached him with the request.

The author said that he ran into AKA on February 11, last year.

“He said he wanted me to write a book about his life,” related Dlanga.

Dlanga revealed that he had rejected the request made by the late rapper.

“I told him I didn’t have the time. I am not a ghostwriter and besides I don’t write about other people’s lives, I only write about mine because I find it easier.”

However, AKA told him that Dlanga wouldn’t be a ghostwriter, and his name would be as prominent as AKA’s.

“He tried to convince me, but I was adamant. Eventually, he said, ‘Ok, that’s fine, maybe you can suggest some names.

“We agreed and started talking about other things,” Dlanga added.

After more probing from AKA, Dlanga still refused to accept his request and told him that he was skilled enough to write the book himself because he was “a great story-teller”.
