The IOTA protocol is expanding in a dramatic way and at this time, it is taking a new leap with respect to the launch of its functional ShimmerEVM testnet. In a bid to boost the development of the ShimmerEVM testnet, the protocol has launched the Treasures of Shimmer testnet campaign in which it said it is ready to issue out a total of 1,800,000 SMR tokens as rewards.

The activities surrounding the Treasures of Shimmer Testnet Campaign are divided into two including Test & Earn and Play & Earn respectively. The campaign was floated by the Tangle Ecosystem Association (TEA) who noted that the reward scheme is a very crucial activity that is billed to measure smart contract activities within the Shimmer Network.

It is not uncommon to find protocols launch-related campaigns as a part of the development process for their respective blockchain engines. TEA has defined the ultimate goal for this current campaign, and it is hinged on stress testing the protocol in a way that important flaws can be detected prior to the full launch of the protocol.

The Tangle Ecosystem Association said it will take cognizance of the bugs discovered during this campaign and it will ensure it corrects all flaws prior to the release. The announcement reveals;

Treasures of Shimmer offers dApp developers an opportunity to test their integrations and services. At the same time, users are incentivized to take an early look and be rewarded for their time. It’s a win-win-win scenario and a lot of fiendish fun,

Of the 1.8 million tokens available for rewarding participants, the Test and Earn campaign will see a total of 1.3 million issued as rewards to participants. The remaining 500,000 SMR tokens are designated as rewards for the Play and Earn offshoot of the campaign.

Positioning to Earn in the Treasures of the ShimmerEVM Campaign

The Treasures of Shimmer Testnet campaign will span a total of two weeks and for users to participate, they must put some key things in place. One of the core requirements to enroll is to download Metamask, one of the most popular non-custodial wallets.

After onboarding on Metamask, users can now visit the faucet page on the Shimmer testnet. This opens access for users to be able to claim SMR testnet tokens which notably have no real value yet. Once this testnet token is acquired, prospective testers can visit the campaign dashboard to explore all of the decentralized applications that are available for testing.

Once identified, users can now get onboarded on the DApp by following the instructions specific to each application. The testnet SMR tokens can be used to participate in the varying activities in the campaign. The Play & Earn campaign will take place on Zealy and like the Test & Earn campaign, getting onboarded is very easy.
