M4 CS Becomes Second Fastest Production BMW at the Nürburgring

The new BMW M4 CS has been tested at the gruelling Nürburgring Nordschleife, with the upcoming model lapping the Green Hell in a time nearly matching that achieved by the current fastest BMW — the M4 CSL in 2022 — to lap the 28.2 km northern loop. Watch the onboard footage below…

Completing a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 21.99 seconds, the upcoming BMW M4 CS nearly matched the lap time recorded by the M4 CSL — currently the quickest BMW to complete a lap of the Green Hell — in 2022. The difference? Only 1.79 seconds. The fastest speed achieved by the M4 CS was 278 km/h. The model that completed the lap was equipped with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres measuring 275/35 in size at the front and 285/30 at the rear, wrapped around 19- (fore) and 20-inch (aft) alloy wheels.

As a reminder, this M4 is equipped with the Bavarian brand’s familiar 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, twinturbo-petrol engine. For the latest M4 CS, BMW has tuned the inline-six unit to produce 405 kW, an increase of 15 kW over the M4 Competition xDrive’s power output. Peak power is available from 6 250 r/min to a red line of 7 200 r/min, while the full complement of torque (650 N.m) is on tap from “just” 2 750 r/min to 5 950 r/min.

The new M4 CS is scheduled to arrive in South Africa during the fourth quarter of 2024. Only 25 examples will be available, each priced from R3 050 000.
