Theo Pourchaire is to continue at McLaren in IndyCar for the next
round at Barber as David Malukas is still not fit to return.
Malukas recently underwent wrist surgery, and was replaced by the
reigning Formula 2 champion for the iconic race on the streets on
Long Beach at the wheel of the Chevrolet-powered DW12. However, the
American is still not able to return to driving duties, with Super
Formula racer Pourchaire given a second outing, this time at the
Barber road course in Alabama. Pourchaire guided the car to an 11th
place finish as Scott Dixon pulled off one of his greatest
victories in a fuel-saving masterclass against Colton Herta.
Reigning champion Alex Palou took third ahead of 2023 Indy 500
winner Josef Newgarden in fourth for Team Penske. Ex-F1 drivers
Marcus Ericsson, Romain Grosjean and Alexander Rossi also took top
10 finishes, with Pourchaire also beating Pato O'Ward in a sister
McLaren, as he finished 16th. 1782773551403012527 DRIVER NEWS:
