The Dutchman was nominated again for the prestigious award after winning his second F1 title in 2023, but was beat by Messi who recently triumphed in the World Cup with the Argentina international team. The award has previously been won by F1 drivers Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, and Lewis Hamilton.
