Minnie Dlamini speaks on her failed marriage

Cape Town – South African actress Minnie Dlamini’s marriage has been in the spotlight over her highly-publicised marriage and recently a lot has been said about the marriage and the divorce.

Minnie has set the record straight.

She appeared on The Upside of Failure podcast with Relebogile Mabotja on 702 and she reflected on the lessons she learned from her marriage as well as her business career.

“When people over-sensationalise, over-dramatise, create lies about you, it’s one of the most painful things because I can’t shut from the rooftops to everyone and explain my truth,” she said.

She added that she doesn’t owe the truth to anyone, saying that as long as her family and friends close to her know the real truth.

Minnie’s marriage to Quinton Jones in 2017 was documented in a three-part special.

The publication of that documentary created a sense that fans should now be able to get a glimpse into her personal life and share their opinions on her marriage and “perceived problems”.

“People need to understand that when a marriage ends, it doesn’t end at the announcement or the day before the announcement, it ends long before that. At the time of the announcement, it felt like a really big relief and a weight off my shoulders,” she said.

Minnie said that going into the marriage, she never knew what she really wanted but never imagined getting divorced and pictured raising her kids the way she was raised.

She also acknowledged that the end of her marriage gave her a second chance at life again.

“I think the failure part is on my part from not being able to pick up what was right for me at a time before I went all the way… You know, in relationships you always know, when you look back, you’re like ‘that was a red flag, and that was a red flag… you’re a red flag!,” she said.

She said that the end of her skincare business boiled down due to going into business with the wrong people. She said that people were simply making more money and that was enough of a reason for her to shut things down.
