Siblings aged 16 and 19 arrested after stabbing and killing an 18-year-old man

Cape Town – Siblings aged 16 and 19 were arrested on Monday after they allegedly stabbed and killed an 18-year-old man next to a local pub in Praktiseer, Limpopo.

In a statement, police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police received a call from a community member about the body of an unknown man lying next to Mama She Is Pub in Praktiseer.

“On arrival at the scene, the members found the body of a man with stab wounds.

“The local standby detectives took over the docket and within hours, they managed to trace and apprehend the suspects at about 10:50.

“The deceased was later identified as 18-year-old Thabo Mokwena from Shushumela, Praktiseer,” Mojapelo said.

The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe warned people to desist from abusing alcohol as “it has become the major contributor to the escalation of crime, especially contact crimes such as murders and assaults”.

The suspects were expected to appear in Praktiseer Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 28.

They faced a charge of murder.
