Sweet Florida Dog Who's Been Waiting for a Home Over 130 Has Shelter Baffled

They can't understand why no one wants her.

The incredible staff, volunteers, and vets at The Humane Society of Broward County help countless Florida animals find loving homes every year, but they still have to work extra hard to get their 'underdogs' the attention they deserve. From their 'Underdog Madness' event to their adorable TikTok videos, these heroes have so many ways of connecting pets with their perfect homes.

Precious 5-year-old Canby is one of those shelter dogs who gets overlooked time and time again (they can't figure out why!) so they gave her the spotlight with a video all her own. Not only are we absolutely smitten with this gorgeous Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but we love the way her rescuers are pampering her, too!

What a sweet, goofy gal! The first things we noticed about this house hippo is her adorable coloring and that precious smile, but the video just kept getting better and better. That custom basketball jersey for the 'Underdog Madness' event is quite possibly the cutest thing we've seen in a while. Not only is it a perfect fit for her--it might even help sports fans see her as the perfect fit for them!

Just like Canby's caretakers, we're positively baffled that she's still waiting in the shelter. @Humanebroward mentioned that she's been in their care since before Christmas, and even though that's not even close to the longest amount of time an animal has been in a shelter, it's way longer than she deserves to be waiting.

One commenter said that she's "such a sweetheart," and we couldn't agree more. Did you see the way she plopped down on her blankets? No wonder the shelter said "she's a true couch hippo that LOVES treats"-- that's exactly what she seems like!

If Canby seems like a pup who'd make a great addition to your home, don't hesitate to reach out to the Humane Society of Broward County to get more information.
