Cape Town – Anti-apartheid hero Chris Hani’s widow Limpho has lashed out at a priest who spoke about forgiveness, as many protested the release of Hani’s killer, Janusz Walus on parole.
A video of the visibly angry Limpho calling out the priest has been circulating on social media, with Limpho telling the priest “he’s talking nonsense”.
The priest read bible verses on forgiveness before addressing Hani’s widow during a prayer session covered live by eNCA.
“Mama, we request that you forgive him. God will deal with him …,” the priest said.
But Limpho shook her head and raised her left hand to object.
“No, no, no, no. He is talking nonsense. Let me tell you … No, you are talking nonsense. I want to say it on TV. He is a priest. I am the one who lost a husband. He has not lost a husband and he has no right, nobody has got the right, to tell me to forgive.

“It’s my feelings. I lost a husband. He has not lost a husband, so bullsh#t with him saying I should forgive,” Limpho said.
Left in an awkward position, the priest just laughed before the video cut off.
Last week, the Constitutional Court ordered the parole release of Walus, who has served nearly three decades for the murder of Hani.
Following the release order, the African National Congress (ANC) and the South African Communist Party (SACP) led a gathering outside the court to protest the decision.
Walus, 69, who was scheduled to be released on parole on Thursday, was stabbed in prison and was reported to be in a stable condition and receiving the necessary health care.
“It is alleged that Walus was stabbed by another inmate from the same housing unit,” said the Department of Correctional Services, adding that an investigation was underway.
His release has since been put on hold while he recovers from stabbing incident.
“By agreement between his legal representatives and the state attorney, the matter of Mr Walus’ parole will only be finalised after he has received the necessary medical clearance from medical team,” said Justice and Correctional Services Ministry spokesperson Chrispin Phiri.
