Cape Town – The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has issued a warning about a viral video on social media showing a man sewing what appears to be an army uniform.

The SANDF spokesperson, Siphiwe Dlamini, confirmed that the man in the video was not authorised to possess such material, Times Live reported.

The man was seen sewing SANDF camouflage cloth with a South African flag, along with other army-related items.

The SANDF expressed concern and said that the person in the video was not a representative of the SANDF and did not have permission to have defence force-patented material.

The SANDF has vowed to use its powers to arrest the individual.

“[The] SANDF has noted with concern the video clip which has gone viral on social media. The person in the clip is not authorised to be in possession of defence force-patented material nor is he a representative of the SANDF, the report quoted Dlamini as saying.

He added: “Members of the public, including clothing manufacturers and producers of cloth materials, must not use, sell or repurpose SANDF material, including camouflage, unless registered and authorised to do so. It is a criminal offence to be in possession of SANDF material and those found in possession will be prosecuted.”
